Wow! Where has the time gone? It’s hard to believe we have already entered the second half of 2026. Fortunately, the 8 energy of July (7 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 17; 1 + 7 = 8) helps slow the pace a little. In our southern hemisphere the winter solstice of June 21st also signified a slowing down of energy, indicating to the natural world that this is a time for rest.

The natural world provides us with many gifts, and one of the ways to access these gifts is to listen to the rhythms of nature. Number 8 is associated with Saturn, “Old Man Time”, the planet concerned with the natural order of life. Saturn rules the sign of Capricorn, bringing healing energy from the earth.

To take advantage of this healing energy we can take time out from our busy lives to rest, reflect, and go inwards. A hands-on treatment such as a massage or reflexology will also support our healing. We can also walk barefoot on the earth, get our hands dirty in the garden, or hug a tree (something I love to do). If we feel creative, we can use materials derived from the earth, such as wood, paint and paper to produce handicrafts or artwork.

As the number of balance, 8 helps us stay with our own inner truths, balancing any conflicts that arise between our own inner selves and our current experience of the outer world, restoring equilibrium. Another powerful 8 quality is that it helps deepen our own inner authority and supports decision-making as we navigate the unknown.

Ruled by Saturn, overseeing the sign of Capricorn, the 8 energy is protective, helping anchor us deeply into Mother Earth, especially relevant during these chaotic times. This grounding energy increases resolve, enabling us to move through any challenges more easily.

Even though this is a quieter month, on the world stage Saturn continues its deep work to complete the destruction of the old to build anew. Legal matters and finances are highlighted. Continuing its purge and release cycle, increased volatility in the form of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions can be expected.

Eight is the number of karma. Given the complex and unprecedented Astrological events that we have been experiencing, and the speed at which these events happen, this slower month provides opportunities for us to be present to what is happening at a deeper level.

As these old, recurring patterns are being dredged up to present themselves, surrendering to whatever is occurring will be extremely beneficial. Karmic release may simply come, for example, through vivid dream states, the shedding of tears, unusual physical symptoms such as skin rashes, or sudden pain that quickly dissipates.

What is unusual is that the entangled mess of old painful stories need not be muddled through yet again. Finally, we are beginning to understand that the past no longer needs to define the present. We are being liberated from all bonds, and freedom is coming ever closer.
