We are in a time of great transition. As we leave old notions of identity behind, the huge planetary energy wave we’ve been experiencing is helping push us forward with new awareness. August, a 5 month (8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 14; 1 + 4 = 5), brings us to a time in the year when we can best take advantage of opportunities to make positive change in our lives.

Five is a highly emotive, heart-centred number. It supports us in being more open with each other. If we have been holding back from telling someone how we feel, the 5 frequency will enable more open communication. We may also find it easier to reach out and connect with others for mutual emotional support in these turbulent times.
The planetary ruler of number 5 is Mercury the messenger, overseeing the two signs of Gemini and Virgo. Delivering a rolling stone kind of energy Mercury propels us quickly forward, helping gather information, knowledge and understanding along the way. Mercury also supports us in being more flexible, both physically and mentally. Mercury is a changeable planet, so expect frequent changes of mind.

It would be remiss of me to end this newsletter without mentioning a major cosmic event that is happening this month. Every year when the Sun is in the astrological sign of Leo, a portal opens in the heavens because of a cosmic alignment called the “Lions Gateway”. The opening occurs over several days; however its widest opening occurs on the 8th day of the 8th month, the most potent day of the year.
The Lionsgate opening has been observed and honoured by the Egyptians for thousands of years. As Sirius rises in the sky, Orion’s belt directly aligns with the Pyramid of Giza. As well as a physical alignment, a spiritual alignment occurs. An intense surge of light activates our human energy field and ignites our DNA, transmitting high vibrational frequencies and codes of awakening.
This gateway opening has to do with the Sun, the Earth, and the fixed star Sirius. The ancients believe Sirius to be the gateway to heaven and that when we leave our physical bodies our souls travel there. Sirius, the Dog Star, is known as our “Spiritual Sun” and is said to be a place of higher consciousness that holds the energy of pure love. When the Gateway is open, not only are we able to receive Love more readily; we can do our part by sending Love out to the world to support the shift of energy necessary to bring our lives back into balance.
During this cosmic alignment spiritual energy intensifies. We can use this opportunity to take note of the messages in our dreams, connect with our guides and ancestors, use the power of this energy to help overcome any fears, and to manifest our passions.
